18 Weeks

I didn't realize how big I was getting until I saw this picture of myself. My b**bs are getting quite big too. Pregnancy changes everything, I tell ya. My fingernails grow so fast now, random, but true. And my hair is out of control. I already have really, really thick hair, but I guess during pregnancy the hormones make your hair thicker, which may be nice for many women, but for me, it means I look like a lioness. Thankfully, I went and got my haircut yesterday. It's SO much better. The gay hairdresser really liked Matthew. Haha. Oh well, I can't blame him.

Birth Center

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

We went to the informational session last night for the Cambridge Birth Center. The midwife was really interesting and well educated on natural birth. So, we're sold! I'm so excited to have my baby there. The Birth Center is in an old Victorian home, right across the street from the hospital, so if anything were to happen, they could easily transfer me to the hospital. It's right in the heart of Harvard square, which is such a hip place, it reminds me so much of Berkeley.

The more I read about natural birth (in a birth center) vs. a hospital birth, the more I feel adamnatly that this is the right move for my child and me. Matthew feels the same. We both agreed that having the baby in the birth center just feels right. I have nothing against women giving birth in hospital, it's just not for me. I trust my body to do what it needs to do without any interventions. This may sound weird, but I'm really excited to give birth and I cannot wait to meet this little person inside of me. Only 23 more weeks to go...
