Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, March 9, 2011
We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

For a great refresher on the guidelines for Lent, visit Leila at Little Catholic Bubble.

Interesting to note, today, Ash Wednesday, is not actually a Holy Day of Obligation (I didn't realize that), but it is required that all Catholics fast and abstain from eating meat. The Church defines fasting as one meal a day and two smaller meals, which if added together would not exceed the main meal in quantity.

Also, the 40 Days for Life campaign begins today. To partake in a "virtual vigil," you can find the prayers here.

May you all have a blessed and holy Lent!
