Getting Ready for California

We're trying on our new swim suits to make sure they fit before heading to sunny California.

I love having two girls and forcing them to wear matching outfits.

So Much

I apologize for my absentee blogging status. These last few weeks have been very busy with so much happening both in the world and in our home. Sometimes when there is so much to say, it is easier to say nothing than to attempt to say all that I want to. So I apologize for the silence.

What's new?

The Pope! I am so thrilled with our new Holy Father. The more I read and learn about him, the more I am blown away. I keep thinking how lucky we are that God has given us Francis. And I doubted! I was so nervous that an unworthy candidate would be chosen. I know the Holy Spirit directs the Cardinals in choosing the new pontiff, but I doubted that mere men would follow His directives. But the Holy Spirit is pretty much a rock star, so I can eat my words now.

Anyways, yesterday's responsorial psalm: "Our Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy!" pretty much sums it all up.

I loved how the first thing Pope Francis made everyone do after his election was pray. Despite all the pageantry and pomp and circumstances he directed everyone's attention back to where it belongs--on God. I really think he's going to be so good for us in every way.

What else? We're heading to California next week. Woo hoo! Sunshine here we come! Speaking of sunshine, we're supposed to get hit with yet another snow storm tomorrow. Good times. I am so over this winter thing.

The girls are doing well. We're all recovering from bad colds, so we've been stuck inside a lot lately, which is...not terribly fun.

Hannah is talking and singing up a storm. She sings this counting song all the time, which kinda drives us crazy, but kinda makes us laugh too. Lately, she insists on doing everything "by my-self!"

Miss Abigail continues to be a busy Betty. She drags her chair around everywhere and climbs up onto everything: dressers, counters, tables, window sills. We've had to hide the chairs.

Anyways, here are some pictures, family, because I know that's what you really want.

Watching the snow from her "perch" as we call it.

XOXO

An excerpt from Thomas L. McDonald:

Non-Catholics can’t possibly understand the connection truly faithful Catholics have to their pope. He’s not magic, he’s not a god, and oddly enough he doesn’t even need to be holy or even particularly inspirational … What he is, is this: a promise. He is a promise, made by the Incarnate Lord, of a visible leadership that will last for all time, beginning with the flawed, hot-headed, cowardly fisherman who sat at His right hand, and stretching down through the millennia to us today. “Tu es Petrus et super hanc petram aedificabo ecclesiam.”

"And I see the Church is alive!"
