What We're Reading

Linking up with Housewifespice today for What We're Reading Wednesday. Obviously, I'm a few days late to the game, but oh well.

Hannah

Usborne Very First Reading Books
Hannah loves these. Some of the books later in the series are a bit harder, but they're designed to be read with a parent, so I suppose it works out. There are also some reading comprehension questions at the end of each story that she really likes.

 Abby
Grandma gave the girls these mini Frozen books. Despite the fact that they didn't actually like the movie, they are really into all things Frozen. Abby loves these little books and pretends to read them all the time.

Lucas loves any type of touch-and-feel book. Right now his current favorite is this animal one.

 Me
I've been going on a reading binge lately. I love my Kindle Paperwhite, which allows me to read in the dark, and I've been putting it to good use lately.

The Husband's Secret
This is a best-seller and I was able to check it out the e-book from the library. It was a pretty intriguing story with an interesting premise. A man keeps a secret his whole life and how that secret affects three separate families once it finally comes to light. A fairly easy read.

 A Work in Progress
A "Christian romance" of sorts. It's actually more about a young college girl and her conversion.  Hey, it was free on Amazon. It started off slow, but I actually got really into towards the middle. It was an easy read, which I enjoyed.

A Spool of Blue Thread
Another best-seller, which I also enjoyed. A story about a couple and their four children and all the things that often go left unsaid within families.

Past Suspicion
“Don’t trust anyone . . .”
So whispers Robin’s mother just moments before she dies, setting in motion the intriguing story of a 17-year-old on a quest to unravel the secrets of her mother’s past.

I actually found it quite suspenseful, if not a tad predictable. But apparently the author was only 18 when she wrote the book. I found that to be the most interesting of the story.

 Lenten Meditations with Fulton Sheen
Lest you think I'm terribly superficial when it comes to my reading, I have been trying to read a few meditations for Lent. The Magnificat Lenten Companion and Fulton Sheen's meditations.  I really like them both and would recommend them.

Hannah Is 5

Sunday, March 1, 2015
Hannah turned five in January. Sometimes I look at her and can't help but think it was only yesterday she was in diapers. Now she's practically driving a car. Where has the time gone?

I must say, I am loving five. It has definitely been my favorite age with her so far. She is so funny, the things that come out of her mouth make me laugh everyday. I really should start recording some of those funny things on this old blog. The other night before dinner, she and Abby were playing in the living room. I told them it was time to come eat. Abby ran over right away, but then all of a sudden, Hannah started crying, (which was a little dramatic) and I didn't know why. Apparently, she and Abby were just about to have a race. She really wanted to race Abby because she really wanted to win. In between sobs, she cried, "winning is my favorite." It was so funny, but I get it, I do. Winning is my favorite too.

She's such a mature five, one of her favorite things to do is clean and organize, oh and decorate. She loves to decorate, which involves placing her toys all around her room. All the best things about little girls, she has. She loves princesses and My Little Pony and dreams about getting married. But she's tough too. She likes karate and fighting with her little boyfriends and of course, she loves to win.

She's such an easy child to love and we are so glad she's ours.

She wanted a Rainbow Dash birthday cake. This was the best I could do.
